Commission sets waterfowl season; marketing effort underway
- Members of the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission
have set the dates and bag limits for Oklahoma's upcoming
waterfowl seasons, and waterfowl hunters across the state
can look forward to another productive year. Duck season
dates and daily limits will be similar to last year, with
most of the state enjoying a six-bird daily limit and 74-day
season with a 12-day mid-season closure. “There have
basically been no changes in the waterfowl season,” said
Alan Peoples, chief of wildlife for the Oklahoma Department
of Wildlife Conservation. “We had good reproduction, and
this will be the twelfth consecutive year of the 74-day
season.”
Ducks, Mergansers and Coots
Zone 2
November 3 - 25, 2007; and December 8, 2007 - January 27,
2008
*Pintail/Canvasback Season: December 20, 2007 - January
27, 2008
Youth Waterfowl Days: October 27 - 28, 2007
dailY limits:
Ducks:
Six. The daily limit may include no more than: five mallards
(only two may be hens), two scaup, two wood ducks, two
redheads, one pintail and one canvasback.
* Pintails
and canvasbacks may be taken only during the established
pintail/canvasback season (see season dates above).
Mergansers:
Five. The daily limit may include no more than two hooded
mergansers.
Coots:
15.
Possession Limits:
The possession limit after the first day of hunting is two
times the daily limit for ducks, mergansers and coots.
Shooting
Hours:
One-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
